What is chicago central railroad?

Chicago Central Railroad was a short-line railroad company that operated in the midwestern region of the United States. It was established in 2004 and was a subsidiary of the Wisconsin Central Ltd. The railroad had a mainline that ran 281 miles from Chicago to Stevens Point, Wisconsin, and also operated several branch lines.

The primary commodities transported by Chicago Central Railroad included lumber, paper, agricultural products, and chemicals. The railroad had a fleet of locomotives and rail cars to facilitate its operations. It also had various facilities such as maintenance shops, terminals, and intermodal yards.

In 2012, Chicago Central Railroad was acquired by Canadian National Railway (CN). The acquisition was part of CN's effort to expand its network in the United States. Following the acquisition, Chicago Central Railroad was merged with other CN-owned railroads to form the Wisconsin Central Ltd. subsidiary of CN.
